Thousands of people gather for 2024 Charleston Airshow

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD)- Tons of locals and visitors are spending their weekend at the Charleston Airshow, where the United States Air Force Thunderbirds and other aircrafts put on a show.

If you look to the sky this weekend,you may just see something spectacular.

“I’ve never been to an airshow and joining the Air Force was kind of spur of the moment so it’s nice to see different ways we can celebrate the Air Force,” Jessica Schall said.

The Charleston Airshow is drawing thousands of people to Joint Base Charleston for this breathtaking event.

This weekend there will be the aerial demonstration, but other ways for people to learn more about the Air Force, like tours of aircrafts on the flight deck.

Event organizers say it’s so much fun to watch everyone enjoy what they’ve put together.

“It’s a lot of work and a lot of time, but we do it because we love the Charleston community and that’s what this is all about,” Airshow Director of Operations, Ali Rizvi said.

Organizers saying its a way for them to give back to the community.

“Work hard every day to make sure we can support this nation and support the community that supports us. That’s you, that’s Charleston. We really appreciate you,” Rizvi said.

If you miss Saturday, the airshow will continue on Sunday.

Gates open at 9 a.m. and performances will be at noon and 4 p.m.
