6 Charleston County open missing person cases

CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) — According to the national missing persons database, there are 22 unsolved cases of missing persons in Charleston County dating back to 1974. Some of these cases are closed, or the person has been located; however, here are six open cases where loved ones have not been found.

Daniel C Riggs

Mr. Riggs was reported missing by his girlfriend on Nov. 11, 2015. His girlfriend said he was a traveling insurance manager and in Georgetown for work on the day of the report. The couple had relationship issues during this time and he told his girlfriend he would not see her again and texted her “I love you with all my heart”. Mr. Riggs was last seen in a black Dodge Nitro with Florida Gator stickers according to a Mount Pleasant Police report. He has a history of depression, the report says. Vernon Snipe

Mr. Snipe was last seen leaving the Charleston County Detention Center on May 10, 2021. Two witnesses also told police that they had fed Snipe in Mount Pleasant the night of May 10. If you have information on this case call the Mount Pleasant Police Dispatch at (843) 743-7200.

Naikeisha Coardes

Ms. Coardes was a student at Trident Tech for Nursing when she went missing. Coardes brother reported her missing and said the last time anyone had seen her was between August 28 to September 1, 2022. When their mother returned home from rehab after breaking her leg on October 28, 2022 all the locks in her home that she shared with Ms. Coardes had been changed and the apartment had been destroyed according to a North Charleston Police report. The brother also told police that Coardes has had mental episodes where she blacks out and doesn’t remember what happens. Tina Snipes

Around 3 p.m. on Aug. 15, 2018, was the last time anyone saw Tina Snipes. She left her camper and stopped at the Horizon EZ Shop gas station on Edisto Island, but she hasn’t been heard from since. Surveillance cameras from the gas station show Snipes was last seen in a textured tank top, yoga pants, flip-flops, a necklace, and sunglasses, and her hair was pulled back in a bun. She was reported missing two days later by a concerned friend. Law enforcement deemed her disappearance “suspicious” and conducted searches by land, air, and water, but no further evidence was discovered.

Snipes’s sister thinks someone in the community knows what happened to her, yet detectives were still not able to gather leads on the case.

Her sister runs a Facebook page dedicated to providing updates and sharing memories in hopes of bringing her home.

Theodore Watson

Theodore Watson was last seen on Aug. 30, 2007, wearing a white tank top. Law enforcement later found his vehicle near a bridge on Highway 174 in Edisto Island. Watson’s physical appearance is described as a Black male, 6 ft to 6ft 3 in. in height, weighing about 225 to 250 lbs. He was 46 years old at the time of his disappearance and would be 63 now.

Brandy Hanna

Brandy Hanna was last seen on May 20, 2005, at her home on Florida Avenue in Charleston after 10 p.m. Her missing person profile says all of her belongings were left behind when she disappeared. She is a white woman with sandy blonde hair and blue eyes. Distinct physical features include a sun tattoo on her right shoulder and a heart tattoo between her thumb and forefinger on her right hand. She was 32 years old when she went missing and would be 51 now. She is 5 ft 9 in tall, weighing 115 lbs.
